The Koenigsegg CCX is a mid-engined sports vehicle built by Koenigsegg Automotive AB. The job began with the purpose of making a worldwide car, designed and constructed to adhere to global basic safety and environment legislation, particularly to enter into the United States car market. To market cars in the US many alterations were made to the look of the CCR; the previously used Ford Modular engine unit was replaced with a Koenigsegg engine made to run on 91 octane gasoline, readily available in the United States, and to meet up with the Californian emission benchmarks. The name CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coup? X, the X commemorating the 10th anniversary (X being the Roman numeral for ten) of the conclusion and test drive of the first CC vehicle in 1996.
The CCX was launched at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, having body modifications to meet US rules and a new 4.7 L twin supercharged V8 engine unit capable of producing 811 PS (596 kW; 800 horsepower) at 7000 rpm and 920 N?m (679 lb?ft) at 5700 rpm of torque while operating on 91 octane gas. There have been 49 CCX-Series vehicles produced between 2006 and 2010 (30 CCX, 9 CCXR, 6 CCX/CCXR Model, 2 CCXR Special Release and 2 CCXR Trevita). One of these was a CCX used for Crash testing and one is still a manufacturer test car. CCX cars have later been upgraded to be CCXR-spec.
