The Koenigsegg CCX is a mid-engined sports vehicle built by Koenigsegg Automotive AB. The task began with the purpose of making a global car, designed and manufactured to comply with global safeness and environment restrictions, particularly to go into the United States car market. To market cars in america many modifications were designed to the look of the CCR; the previously used Ford Modular engine unit was replaced by a Koenigsegg engine designed to run on 91 octane energy, readily available in america, and to meet up with the Californian emission benchmarks. The name CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coup? X, the X commemorating the 10th wedding anniversary (X being the Roman numeral for ten) of the conclusion and test drive of the first CC vehicle in 1996.
The CCX was presented at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, sporting body alterations to meet US regulations and a new 4.7 L twin supercharged V8 engine unit with the capacity of producing 811 PS (596 kW; 800 horsepower) at 7000 rpm and 920 N?m (679 lb?feet) at 5700 rpm of torque while running on 91 octane gasoline. There have been 49 CCX-Series autos produced between 2006 and 2010 (30 CCX, 9 CCXR, 6 CCX/CCXR Model, 2 CCXR Special Edition and 2 CCXR Trevita). One of them was a CCX used for Crash tests and one is still a manufacturing plant test car. CCX vehicles have later been upgraded to become CCXR-spec.
