The Koenigsegg CCX is a mid-engined sports vehicle built by Koenigsegg Automotive AB. The project began with the aim of making a worldwide car, designed and manufactured to comply with global basic safety and environment laws, particularly to enter into the United States car market. To sell cars in the US many alterations were made to the design of the CCR; the used Ford Modular engine was replaced by way of a Koenigsegg engine designed to run on 91 octane energy, readily available in america, and to meet up with the Californian emission requirements.The name CCX can be an abbreviation for Competition Coup? X, the X commemorating the 10th wedding anniversary (X being the Roman numeral for ten) of the completion and test drive of the first CC vehicle in 1996.
The CCX was revealed at the 2006 Geneva Engine Show, having body modifications to meet US restrictions and a new 4.7 L twin supercharged V8 engine motor with the capacity of producing 811 PS (596 kW; 800 hp) at 7000 rpm and 920 N?m (679 lb?feet) at 5700 rpm of torque while running on 91 octane fuel. There have been 49 CCX-Series cars produced between 2006 and 2010 (30 CCX, 9 CCXR, 6 CCX/CCXR Release, 2 CCXR Special Edition and 2 CCXR Trevita). One of these was a CCX used for Crash exams and one is still a manufacturing plant test car. CCX cars have later been improved to become CCXR-spec.
